From small beginnings, great things can grow. Our story begins as far back as 1945, when a modest family business was formed as a cast manufacturer and jewellery wholesaler.
After years of dedication and industry innovation, 1990 saw a well-established and successful OROAFRICA welcoming Steven Nathan on board as the Financial Director. Eight years later, our continued success led to partnerships with an internationally renowned Italian gold jewellery manufacturer (Filk Spa) as well as AngloGold Ashanti – one of the world’s largest gold producers.
OROAFRICA’s growth and expansion gave way to business relocation from Johannesburg to Cape Town. This came along with a multi-million rand investment in advanced manufacturing facilities and a brand new head office. Though we celebrated such a huge development, it had by no means changed the principles by which we operate. The family values that were put in place at OROAFRICA’s humble beginnings still remain and epitomise the way we do business to this day.
We are South Africa’s leading jewellery company, providing solutions to our customers from independently owned retailers through to national chain stores. Our name continues to transcend borders as we do business with customers in America, Europe, United Kingdom, China, the Middle East and Australia.
In our endeavours to reinforce both consumer and stakeholder confidence in our products, we are a proud member of the Responsible Jewellery Council. Moreover, with the goal of strengthening and protecting the reputation and integrity of the industry, OROAFRICA has also collaborated with Rand Refinery. Our combined efforts have given rise to RandPure™ - an initiative that is set to be the benchmark for responsible fine gold jewellery manufacturing.
In the spirit of giving back to the industry that has offered us so much, OROAFRICA is also dedicated to recruiting and training future generations of talented young South Africans in the art of jewellery creation. In collaboration with Ikamva Labantu, we also contribute to township community development by being one of the companies committed to the renovation of ten township pre-schools.
From a humble start to great expansion, and a firm commitment to the industry in which we operate, OROAFRICA’s story is definitely one that has - and will continue to - leave marks as it unfolds.
